Department of Public Works

The Department of Public Works is responsible for: the care, management and maintenance of all public highways, sidewalks and trees; mechanical maintenance and rolling stock repair; public and school off-street parking facilities; repair, furnishing, cleaning, heating and lighting of all public buildings; collection and disposal of Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling; maintenance of city owned street lights and traffic signals; the procurement, storage and distribution of energy products, such as gasoline and diesel; and the care and maintenance of all public parks and grounds. The Department also manages Capital Improvement projects funded through City funds and State and Federal grants.
