Public Information Releases

In accordance with the New London Police Department's General Duty Manual, the Deputy Chief of Police shall serve as the department's Public Information Officer (PIO).  As such, the Deputy Chief will assume all responsibilities inherent in the department's routine communications with the news media, including routine preparation of the police log for news media, assisting news personnel in covering routine news stories, distributing agency news releases, etc.  In the absence of the PIO, other supervisors may be responsible for media relations regarding minor incidents, with Command Staff approval.  The full General Order regarding release of information to the news media may be viewed here. The arrest log, with basic "arrest record" information, is available for public inspection twenty-four hours per day.  More specific queries regarding police incidents/information must be directed to the PIO.
