Winter Parking Restrictions

Cancelation of Thursday Garbage Collection

 

Due to the forecast for a significant snowfall beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Friday morning, residents and visitors are reminded that the City of New London’s Winter Parking Restrictions will be in effect.

Also, Thursday’s garbage collection is cancelled. We will be on the holiday schedule,  Thursday collection will be Friday and Friday will be Saturday.

AS OF THIS PRESS RELEASE IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT A DOWNTOWN PARKING BAN WILL BE PUT INTO EFFECT AT 9:30 PM WEDNESDAY.  Parking will not be allowed on any streets in the downtown district or in the municipal surface parking lot.  Vehicles will be towed to permit the clearing of streets and parking lots.  Vehicles are invited to park in the Water Street Parking garage free of charge until Saturday, December 18th.

Citywide winter parking restrictions include the following:

  • No Parking on NARROW STREETS.
  • Where parking is permitted ON ONLY ONE SIDE OF THE STREET, FOLLOW POSTED REGULATIONS.
  • Where parking is permitted ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET, PARK ON THE “EVEN” SIDE OF THE STREET ONLY.
  • New London Police will be strictly enforcing these restrictions for safety purposes.New London Public Works, Fire and Police experience great difficulties and challenges responding to requests for services, clearing the roadways and responding to emergencies with vehicles improperly parking each year on the following streets; Michael Rd, Anthony Rd, Boulder Drive, Buchanan Rd, Rogers St, Connecticut Ave, Belden St, Ledyard St, Mountain Ave, Cape Ann Court, Eastern Ave at the top of the hill, Terrace Ave and Bragaw St.The New London Police will be vigilant and will be issuing tickets and towing improperly parked vehicles during each snow event.
  • New London Senior Center Food Pantry distribution cancelled for Thursday, December 17, 2020. TVCCA Meals-On-Wheels is conducting early meal deliveries today and tomorrow, as there will be no regular meal deliveries on Thursday and Friday due to inclement weather.

Residents are asked to be patient while city public works employees work diligently to clear our streets.
